Safety & Confidentiality

Please make sure you are in a safe place when you call, text or chat. If at any point you no longer wish to receive text messages from us, you may opt out by texting the word STOP. If you no longer wish to chat, close your live chat session. For calls, you can hang up the phone at any time to disconnect.
All call, text and chat communications with the Childhelp hotline (including services with the Courage First Athlete Helpline) are confidential. In most cases, we will not share your information or confirm that you have contacted us without your consent. In limited circumstances we may have to contact law enforcement or a child welfare agency. For example, if we learn that a child is in danger, being abused, or if we have reason to believe that you or someone else is in immediate danger and we have identifying information, or if we are otherwise required by law. To the extent possible, we will always let you know if we have to make a report.
If at any point during a text or live chat conversation we don’t receive a response from you within 15 minutes, we will have to end the conversation to assist other users. For your safety, we will not contact you back after 15 minutes have passed. We will communicate back only after you have reached out to us again to start a new conversation.

If you have questions at any time during the conversation, don’t hesitate to ask the counselor for more information.
